Riccardo Liberatore, DPhil in History:

My research looks at mass emigration from the Mediterranean region to the Americas in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It seeks to understand how it was governed in the context of what has been described as a ‘modern liberal system’ of migration management. 

Studying global history means taking part in a debate surrounding some of the big questions of our time, such as what it means to live in a global community and how globalization has shaped contemporary society.
